Ok, this cookbook means well but it has so many mistakes in the recipes. After years of buying cookbooks I've never seen anything like this. There are ingredients listed in the description that never appear on the ingredient list in almost every recipe. In one instance a recipe's title mentions a spice that isn't even included in the recipe at all. Ha! Very sloppy. And I'm only on week 1 of the recipes.

Having been diagnosed with high blood pressure and told to follow the DASH way of eating, I was looking for good recipes to start the change. First mistake I found was when I was trying to follow the "week of meals".....a couple recipes listed in the week chart, weren't included in the book!! Then I made the Salmon, Spinach, Tomato Lasagna.......guess what? NO TOMATOES ANYWHERE IN THE RECIPE!!! Do not waste your money on this book!

someone with hypertension, like me, perfect way to get my blood pressure back on tract. easy to read recipes. i love the way the author talks about the different foods and what the health benefits are for each one.and such variety so many different foods to choose from.the recipes are simple with ingredients that are common in most kitchens.

I love this book! Easy to follow. I HATE to cook. HATE it. These recipes are simple and easy and no-fuss. So far everything I have made has been very tasty. I recommend!

Where to begin? First, no listing of calorie totals for each day. Second, no recommendations for adjusting calorie totals for different size people. Third, one “dinner” on the menu simply calls for orange beef, at 289 calories. No side dishes listed. 289 calories for a large man for dinner? Nope. Serve it with brown rice, maybe. One breakfast calls for 1cup of oatmeal and a cup of blueberries, when the recommended serving size for both is 1/2 cup. The book has some good hints and ideas, but it is not a “beginner” book.

Easy to understand, great meal plans, manageable recipes. I will be using this book for meal planning. Love that I have so many ideas in one book. Plus good price on Kindle ebooks

I just finished prepping for day one week one. I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews that say there are crucial recipe items not included on the shopping list.The shopping list claims to have everything you need to complete week one for one person. There are countless items in the recipes that are not mentioned in the shopping list. I caught some of these pre-shopping, but have just realized that I also missed quite a few. My favorite so far is on the shopping list it says you need 2 bananas. You need 7.Also, on day 2 your snack is the same morning and afternoon. Easy enough to change, but annoying that you need to.I have yet to eat the recipes, so I’ll have to report back on that. A lot of the recipes say “serve immediately.” I’m hoping that’s more for “so it’s still hot” and not for integrity of the recipe. I have to meal prep and bring things to work.Sit down and read every recipe before shopping. Do not count on the shopping list.

Love that the recipes are for two and all the tips you get.

The author had an exceptional ability to allow the reader to experience the strong emotions during this horrendous time. I have read many Holocaust books, and I feel that this one was was first rate with strong emotional depiction. His use of Hebrew and other unfamiliar vocabulary was accompanied by using context clues to help the reader, as well as a glossary. What I didn't like was that there were some phrases that were repetitive, but then again, so were many of the days. There were also times when the sentence structure was not quite correct, but I understand that translating the book into English can be difficult. Overall, however, I would recommend this book to people who are interested in the Holocaust and the lessons that can be learned from reading about it.

This book was an amazing account of a Jewish boy who was sent to the work camps. I just can't fathom how human beings can hate with such fierceness and treat others as if they are nothing, deserving no human kindness. It is a wonderful that anyone survived such in human treatment. The Holocaust must be remembered, that such atrocities do not repeat themselves.

This book was a real eye opener about a work camp that was in reality a torture camp that caused the starvation of body, mind and spirit of the Jewish inmates. Survival of the fittest was an understatement of these prisoners who were led to believe that work would free them while they were in many cases worked to their death.Kudos to Moshe Ziv who managed to survive these horrendous circumstances.

The author's incredible memory details horrific experiences suffered at the hands of Nazis, malicious fellow prisoners and German citizens. An incredible story of minute to minute survival through three camps, liberation, and final homecoming in Israel. This book should be forced down the throats of deniers and revisionist so that they may choke on the pages of reality.

Although a true story once you discovered where the buttons came from the story was pretty much over.

I haven't read much beyond a news story for years, but found myself completely wrapped into this story. Excellent book and would recommend this to people I know who are interested in the Holocaust

There are almost 100 pages of acknowledgments, source notes, bibliography and index.Given the richness and abundance of the material, Bedell-Smith, more or less, lets the sources tell the story with only minimal input and interpretations on her part. Some opinions do show through, such as the belief that Prince Phillip is more human than usually perceived and Diana more emotionally damaged (maybe even suffering from mental illness) than usually believed.While, obviously, all members and generations of the Royal family form part of the Queen's story, the biography is very scrupulously Elizabeth II-centric. All others seem to exist only as her relatives and people who impact her life. Prince Charles and Prince William are the only two exceptions as they are the people who are expected to step into her shoes. I found this to be among the more fascinating parts of the book. The contrasts between the styles and personalities of the Queen and her heir are striking and, though they share a sense of duty and dedication, the differences don't promise a seamless transition (especially in the areas of discretion and humility).The author makes valiant attempts at objective scholarship, but a basic fondness and respect comes through her words. Still, she manages to portray the Queen as a human being, not a larger than life heroine. She is simply a human being uniquely disposed by training, experience, and character to maintain the balance between historical tradition and modern relevance--and to do so with more heart and a better mind that she is usually credited with.I had read an excerpt of this book in Vanity Fair and had high expectations. I wasn't disappointed and don't think you will be either.

It seems to me that Amazon has mistakenly mashed together the reviews of two different books. If you look at the reviews for this book, half of them are for a book about Elizabeth I and half of them are reviews of a book about Elizabeth II written by a wholly different author. Please fix this Amazon!

In truth, there are very few people in this world whom I admire as much as I do Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I have read many books and seen many movies, documentaries and other films, and this book was one of my favorite to read. I find that this book paints a larger yet more defined picture of the longest reigning Queen in British history. HM the Queen is so much more than what many people might believe. Being an Englishman, living among Americans, I've found that from a lot of their points of view, as with many, from the outside looking in HM seems to be not much more than a rather pointless figurehead, an echo of a no longer relevant institution. With that being said, I would most certainly recommend this book, and other books like it as it helps to give a deeper and more dynamic picture of a likewise Queen and institution which she serves.

While I am not into Royalty and see them as an anachronism, I found it very interesting to find the public person so very different than from her private self. The history of her reign, the succession of prime ministers and their relationships with her, follows what I witnessed from afar and was therefore very interesting reading. I am about 10 years her junior and remember the fairy tale wedding, tempered by recent wartime restrictions, and a few years later the coronation with the usual pomp and circumstance.Later on I lived in London for a while and saw her (again, from afar) on several occasions, and she was indeed a very pretty young woman. It was then still the custom to stand up when she appeared on a screen, even in one's own living room.The book is well written but obviously the author is totally smitten with her, rarely finding anything negative to say - understandable since the Queen is still alive, But let's face, nobody is perfect.Whether or not the British people will continue to tolerate the enormous expense of supporting not only their Monarch's household but those of her children and grandchildren, remains to be seen.To sum up, I found the book very interesting reading revealing a private person of great appeal, someone I could really like. But, as is often asked: Why can't she smile more in public?

Great book. The many arduous duties of a monarch are shown with empathy and in great detail. Gives us a good picture of a life well lived, and a woman who puts Duty to her country and her role first, yet manages to maintain a stable family life, within the boundaries of the things she is able to control. There are some factual errors: I have heard people who were at events author descr8ibed recount different truths as they saw and experienced them. Perhaps her sources at some points weren't good. Still a great read.

I was very disappointed. This book doesn’t really tell you anything you didn’t already know about Elizabeth. She is a very discreet person who unexpectedly became Queen and does a marvelous job. She was a very absentee, distant parent but now gets along with her children. Her greatest loves are Phillip, horses and corgis. I find it hard to believe that everyone she has ever had dealings with loves her but the author thinks so. If Elizabeth were running for office, they could release this as a campaign bio!

A very lengthy but interesting book detailing the reign of Queen Elizabeth. I really enjoyed reading this book and learned so much about The English Commonwealth and the Monarchy. GreT book if you are a history buff!

The synopsis claims that this is the "definitive treatment of WCF", will provide "unique insight, rather than documentation", and will teach "the why and the how of WCF programming". The book claims to be a guide on not only WCF, but SOA and programming in general. The Preface states the target audience is experienced developers with knowledge of basic OO concepts, .NET, and C# 4.5. After reading Chapter 1: WCF Essentials, Chapter 11: The Azure Service Fabric, and Appendix A: Introduction to Service Orientation, I disagree with these claims.As other reviewers have stated, the content of this book seems to contradict the synopsis. This is my first exposure to WCF and SOA, and even from the introductory chapter, the book makes many assumptions about the reader's familiarity with networking, services, web sockets, service-client interactions, hosting, and more topics which I consider well beyond the prerequisite "encapsulation and inheritance" knowledge mentioned in the Preface. I also disagree that this book could be considered an "authoritative guide"; each chapter merely steps through a concept feature-by-feature, providing isolated examples of each, without demonstrating any practical cohesion. This book has more features of a reference book, and a poor one at that considering the self-promotion and subjective slants that contaminate and dilute the core content. Anyone but a very experienced .NET web developer will have a hard time using this book as the sole reference for building applications using WCF.The writing quality leaves a lot to be desired. I've read books on data structures & algorithms that are easier to read than this book. This is aggravated by poor basic quality control: while I was reading the chapter on Azure Service Fabric without skimming, I found 5 typos over 19 pages: "you" instead of "your" and "programing" are two examples which I've submitted to the errata.The authors take every opportunity to promote their own code, touted as a "small framework that sits on top of WCF and compensates for some oversights in its design." This reflects the tone of self-importance that permeates the book. It's true that the authors have tons of credibility, experience, and professional recognition, but I'd rather agree with content (as I'm sure most engineers would) based on its demonstrated value rather than the authority of the author. I've looked at the ServiceModelEx code, but the issue is that there is no documentation in the source code and the provided PDF documentation is far from comprehensive. This means that the only way to truly leverage ServiceModelEx would be to attend the workshops run by their company.The MSDN documentation on WCF and Azure Service Fabric has better quality and practicality than this book.

This book is better than Lowy's previous book on WCF in it's depth and coverage. But, it still suffer's from the historical approach to WCF that has been tied to IIS and Web Services. WCF is a multi-function interprocess and Web communications center framework and not just a replacement for COM Services.I have almost every book(7) written for WCF and all of them ignore teaching interprocess communications, ethernet and replacement for basic services. The neglect is compounded by failure to demonstrate design of connection points for all types. This leaves the remaining text mostly as a self-serving treatise on the author's narrow specialty in using WCF. I would estimate that the general reader's needs lie far closer to needing interprocess, ethernet, and database connectivity.However, I find that this may be the best teaching source on WCF at this time.

(I am copying my comments to another review to the top level)This is not a instructional book on WCF per se. It does add advanced knowledge that you will not find anywhere else. It is a mind expanding experience, but not a manual (although chapter one is knowledge that should be in any manual on WCF). The build up of ServiceModelEx is worth the price of admission even if the text is bit dry.Sorry Juval and Monty...it is thoroughly informative and kind of dry. I am very happy with the purchase (even if I had to wait 7 months for it to arrive) and will recommend it without reservation.

I have been building web services in WFC for a couple years and my main sources of knowledge were: small introductory chapters in C#/.NET books, reading the code that my co-workers wrote, technical articles online and on MSDN, a book called "WCF Multi-layer Services Development with Entity Framework", which was more on the multi layer approach and EF than it was a serious book on WCF and finally Stackoverflow, which I find a major source of confusion and misinformation.Having to give a introduction to my team mates about REST, which included a historical background about other technologies/protocols like (RMI, DCOM, SOAP...etc), I just realized I had a knowledge gap and unanswered questions about WCF and SOAP and how they relate to each other which annoyed me a lot, plus the few books that I had sounded contradictory when they mention bindings, some add a few and others omit a few and they hardly agree on how many bindings are actually there.I decided to look again for a serious book about WCF and I ordered this one.So I am only 31 pages into this book and I got a clearer picture now and my questions have been answered. I am not sure if I will finish the book or go into all the details but just being able to see the big picture and have a clearer understanding of the main concepts is actually worth what I paid for the book.There is nothing like reading a good book.
