Excellent value, and can keep young children entertained for a few minutes.Now these books are small--but that's kind of the point of these book, I think. They're portable, easy to throw in a briefcase or purse or back of the car, and handy to give to children at the doctor's office waiting room, or in an airport, or on a car trip, or at a restaurant waiting for food, or really, just anywhere where you want to have a short educational (or semi-educational) activity.And I gotta admit, I like that this is an "un-plugged" option. Not on a phone or tablet or screen--just a good old-fashioned book with simple activities, vivid illustrations, and things to *do*--that is, an active, tactile experience--even if the activities are quite simple (like peeling stickers).We don't leave home without a few of these. (Just be prepared, if you haven't ordered these before, for a small booklet, not a *book* book.)

Complete deception. This title says "I library of their lives," and the image shows multiple volumes of these books leading you to believe that all are included in this purchased. I received only one book. Book 1- Vincent Van Gogh. Very disappointed.

This is a great little book of 16 Picasso stickers. Great little decorative stickers you can do so many things with. "The Dream" is my favorite piece so I bought this to add stickers in my journal for some color and some pretty artwork. Also can add to letters or the back of envelopes to not only help it stay secure but to spread the beauty of Picasso. :)

For Picasso lovers, or any art person! All the stickers are of his paintings and I like that there are some more of the not as well known ones featured, which makes these even more interesting to decorate a sketchbook or anything. Made me want to further research more of his works, which are so lovely! Definitely have bought more from this brand, such as the Kahlo sticker book, so cool.

I love these little books by Dover, the price is perfect and the concept is simple. They are perfect stocking stuffers, goodie bag stuffers and little cheer-me-ups to pop in the mail to friend. I keep them in my bag to keep my kids busy and entertained when we have an unexpected wait where they need to be quiet. They're also great for crafting. So many uses and so many different titles, it's impossible to list all of them.

Perfect! These stick well and the color is vibrant. Each one has the title of the painting on them.

I use this book to play gospel songs at the nursing home. The residents know the songs and we all enjoy playing and singing them. I would recommend this book.

The congregation loved these tunes over some of the other music I was playing.

Given as a gift to my mother. She found it easy to read and the songs old standards she enjoyed playing.

My wife was able to read the music easy and was able to play the songs. with out a problem. would recommend for some one who has some who can play the piano but was not an expert.

I ordered this book when I started taking formal piano lessons. I'm just in my first year (and I'm 50!) of lessons and I wanted to play hymns and gospel. I grab this book every time I sit down at my piano because I can follow the music and play the songs within minutes.

But as they grow closer, will either of them admit that it's more than just a fling?I will say two good things and one criticism about the book. The first good thing: it is a joy to read, like sipping hot chocolate, warm and sweet and goes down easy. In this tumultuous time we're living in, that goes a LONG way; it is pure comfort reading. The writing is funny and effortless. I never wanted to stop reading, and I felt satisfied when it was done.The second good thing is how much I enjoyed reading a book with two professionally accomplished leads. They both have challenging careers, and they both care about their work and are good at it. We see both of them in professional settings, thinking about their work, stressing about things that matter. Alexa is trying to fund an arts program for at-risk teenagers, and Drew has a kid who's not recovering well after surgery. They also both have broad social circles filled with interesting, good people. I really enjoyed reading a book in which the characters are essentially all role models. Alexa in particular is a well drawn character, with relatable insecurities and a sharp, funny way of looking at the world. Drew is a bit more generic, but he's still a good guy.And this brings me to the criticism -- there isn't any real conflict. Drew is commitment phobic, and tends to dump women after a few months; and Alexa is worried about getting attached to him. But this doesn't ever go anywhere. I always find it irritating when the big conflict of the book could be resolved if either character would just talk to the other one. What's a little stranger is that there is potential for real conflict here. Alexa is black and Drew is white, and beyond that, Ms. Mallory does talk about the white privilege that Drew enjoys, and there is one instance where he makes a somewhat uninformed remark about her youth program. I'm curious why she didn't build more conflict around that -- not around racial issues, particularly; I liked that they were inter-racial. But why not build conflict that is more original and specific to who these people are, and the work they do? At one point Ms. Mallory mentions in passing that they have to learn how to adapt to two difficult and challenging careers; that is also an interesting conflict, rarely explored, and these are two characters who could handle it.There's part of me that enjoyed a book in which nothing bad happens, but it also was a little odd that this is a book in which nothing much happens: two attractive, likable, accomplished people meet, fall in love, and.... the end, basically!All that being said -- it was warm, and sweet, and comforting, and funny, and I'm on board for all of that. A good read that deserves to be read.(And P.S. just to back up what Roxane Gay said in her 5-star review: it is very funny how much they ate. I guess since they weren't fighting, and they couldn't have sex ALL the time, they needed something else to do, so they ate constantly -- donuts, waffles, burgers, burritos, more donuts, more donuts. It was kind of hysterical.)

I wanted to love it. The two leads have real jobs and each has a small circle of friends. But there was no oomph to the plot. I felt like the characters were just spinning their wheels until the inevitable happy ending. There wasn't even a good sense of place. San Francisco should be a good setting but this was the most generic version of SF.

Fun, frothy rom-com read that would make a delightful movie. (Admit I've been dream casting it in my head ever since I finished reading it. Think I mentally settled on Chris Pine and Nicole Beharie for the leads. Make it happen, Hollywood!)From the moment Alexa and Drew meet cute in a stuck elevator and she agrees to be his wedding date for the weekend, sparks fly between the poised political operative and hunky pediatrician. As their cross-California romance goes from faux to fabulous, the two see if there's more to their relationship than just a couple wild weekends.Devoured this on vacation and it's the perfect beach read. Smart, funny, a little bit sexy (but not graphic), and just a truly delightful summer, or anytime, read. And while it's undeniably light reading, it also has stuck with me long after most modern romances have totally faded from memory. Jasmine Guillory is a true find and I can't wait to read what she has coming out next. (It's THE PROPOSAL, another fun-as-heck sounding romance, which I've already pre-ordered.)

It wasn't.The two characters were mildly interesting, but their "relationship development" was a span of 2 months of weekend sex trips. It only bothered me because in the "sample" and even the build up of the wedding, there was such promise of a cute story, but then you got past their first hookup and it was like the author didn't know what else to do besides have them bone down for 75% of the book.Also, the text fighting and juvenile fighting packed depth and believability to the romatic notion that these two characters would be together.

Two short years later, so-called same-sex marriage has become law across the country, and the federal government now threatens to withhold children's education money from states who do not allow men who wish they were women to use public bathrooms alongside young girls."As you can perceive from this selection, Platt is an unabashed conservative who holds to traditional Christian morality. But Counter Culture is more than a simple "what conservatives believe" pamphlet. As Platt delves into the scriptural foundation for each of the stances he takes in the book, he gives a very personal spin. On each issue he tells how he has struggled to follow Christ's example. Further, he helps the reader by ending each chapter with steps to pray--suggestions for prayer time, to participate--ways the reader can be involved, and to proclaim--scriptures to mediate on regarding the issue of the chapter.Overall, Platt maintains a very positive tone. He offers the hope of the gospel for those involved in sexual sin, for those struggling with materialism or poverty, for those in slavery. The weight of the issues he discusses began to feel very heavy, and our response, inadequate. But as he reminds us, "God alone is able to bear these global burdens." In his grace, he allows us to participate in his work.His new chapter, which covers the current refugee crisis, seemed especially weighty. Platt makes it personal, narrating the tale of families fleeing from war-ravaged Syria. As we try to imagine what it would be like to live in their shoes, we can't help but wonder what we might do. While Platt's presentation is particularly effective, it also reveals a weakness of his approach. He's right that we need to pray, and that refugees are especially in need of the saving knowledge of Jesus. And of course the material needs are tremendous. The problem is transitioning to the public policy realm. Given the need, does the United States have an obligation to assist 60 million refugees? To welcome them into our country? What if the expense is more than we can bear? And is there any logistical possibility of resettling all those in need? I'm not sure Platt has a great answer.Even when he might fall short on policy recommendations, throughout Counter Culture, Platt never fails to keep the focus on Christ and the hope we have in him. We all have sinned, and are guilty of following culture on some or all of the issues he addresses. As we live to counter culture, we live to follow Christ. Until a dear friend recommended this book, I was unfamiliar with David Platt’s writings. This is not meant to seem trite or trivial, but prior to reading I noticed that two of his sons are named Joshua and Caleb. As an old Marine, it made me think: “Okay, this guy is a warrior.” And once into the book I noticed several Isaiah 5:20-type references, only to recall his third son is named Isaiah, making the impression complete.“Counter Culture” is an amazing work. It is at once convicting and disturbing, yet irresistible. Platt boldly proclaims biblical truth as few are today willing to. In most of the chapters I was made to view the huge planks in my eyes before seeing the evil and injustice beyond in my own narrow view. CC is a Christian call to action with eternal focus. Simply superb.

Dr. Platt is an incredible communicator! His books, his videos and postings, all direct our eyes and hearts towards true, realistic discipleship. Following Jesus is not going to happen in the lives of those who seek to be comfortable, safe, or entitled. And certainly those who want to live in immorality, greed, deceit, or idolatry will not appreciate the truth spoken by Dr. Platt. But for those who follow Jesus with abandon, who have died to self that they might live in Him, this book holds amazing promise.

This is a well written, easily understood book on very difficult and controversial topics which cannot be ignored.David Platt presents God's Word, filled with timeless truths, as the final authority for determining how we live our lives as followers of Christ. He makes clear that we must be "consciously countercultural" in contemporary America with both grace, strength and the accompanying risk when we do so. It is a call to move forward, not retreat.This book should challenge its reader to further study and discussion.

Oh my word! If you are soft-hearted, have a box of tissues available when you read this. What a heart-breaking but inciting message to get out there and DO for Christ!!!! This should be mandatory reading in every Christian church.

If you wonder if it's you, or if you congregation seems to have the same values as the culture, this book is for you. If you and your church aren't committed to being "counter-cultural" you will succumb to your culture; and become meaningless. This is a great book to help you get back on track and confront the mission of the church. David Platt is very realistic in his evaluations. Great read. You need to read "Radical: Taking Back Your Faith From The American Dream," by David Platt as well. (I do not work for David Platt - it just sounds like it.)

This book is one of the best books I’ve in the last 15+ years of being a Christian. It stacks up to Lewis, Keller, Tozer and Edwards. It is convicting and life changing. I recommend it to any true seeker wanting follow Jesus. Wow!!!

This is an amazing book full of practical biblical advice on getting involved with the parts of our culture in need. Our ladies ministry leaders studied this book this summer and all were convicted of areas in their lives needing improvement in challenged to find ways to better serve our community. I highly recommend this book!

A Pastor in my church preached about this book and I found it interesting. I bought it without hesitation and start reading it. I finished the book in 3 weeks, something that is a victory fore because I'm not used to reading. I found the book amazing even tho I don't share the same Christian faith as David. This book was a blessing to me and if you're reading this, it means that this topic intreagues you too. Give it a chance and I assure you that this book is going to change a lot of things in your life, including atheist too.

I might have missed something. Is this a children’s book?I read some of the good reviews before I bought this book, and wow, was I disappointed! What were these people thinking?The book’s cover touts “The missing tech behind the world’s greatest structures”. Well there is missing tech, but you won’t find the answer to the missing tech here.This book is 84 pages. It could have been published in 24 pages if they hadn’t printed it in 18 pt. font. It can be read in thirty to forty-five minutes, tops. It’s written at a 5th grade level (2nd grade in Japan, Korea, or China) and it reads like a high school paper. The editing is poor at best. There are missing words, incomplete sentences, and words run together. All that being said I gave it two stars because it has several good points, and I couldn’t give it one and a half stars.The book covers the mysteries of: The great Pyramid of Giza, Stonehenge, Goseck Henge, Derinkuyu Underground City, Pumapunku, Gobekli Tepe, Nan Madol, Hypogeum of Hal-Saflieni, Coral Castle and the Russian Megalithic Stones. There is very little new here and the reader could get more information on most of these enigmas by watching a few episodes of “Ancient Aliens”. Whole books could/have been written on each of these enigmas, yet the author devotes six to eight pages to each of them.The “chapter” on Coral Castle is interesting, only that there are several inaccuracies in it. I live within two hour’s drive of Coral Castle, have visited it several times, which the author obviously hasn’t, and I am very familiar with it. What this book overlooks is that Edward Leedskalnin not only built Coral Castle, he moved it to its present location from its original location further south. More information can be obtained on this enigma from the brochure you can obtain when visiting the site, or the site visit itself. Things brings into question the narrative on the other sites.Back to my two stars. The up side is there are two “chapters”, albeit brief chapters, on the Derinkuyu Underground City and the Russian Megalithic Stones that I knew little or nothing about, and for which I will seek additional and more detailed information.If you are a well-read student of ancient architectural enigmas this book is a waste of your time. On the other hand, if you don’t read, don’t watch the history or science channels, or have been living under a rock for the last twenty years and are looking for an introduction into the subject of ancient architectural enigmas, this book is for you.

Author Redfern has produced a well-considered list of ancient structures which seem to spin more mystery than they can provide answers, about those who built them. He looks at the best known of the ancient mystery architecture, worldwide; yet he doesn't really bring new thinking to the questions that have in some cases, been pondered for decades. He does insert the ancient spaceman hypothesis without seeming to truly endorse it as "the" only explanation. It is clear that our ancient ancestors had some building skills we forgot over the millennia. Mankind has been around to learn how to build for several hundred thousand years, yet if we travel back only a couple of thousand years, most Europeans still lived in caves or wattle and daub mud houses or brush lean-tos. These structures beg further study and I believe in time, they will reveal more about how they were built, and who did the construction. In the mean time, this is an entertaining look at many of them the average reader may not be aware of.

There are some people who would scoff at exploring anything that they can’t touch, feel, or most importantly, understand. This book is not written for them. This book is written for the Curious – in my mind they are the luckiest people because they are always wondering and exploring virtually anything that is not clearly understood.How can one look at some of the wonders explained in this book without opening the mind to various possibilities? For example, Stonehenge has been studied for a long, long time. And yet there is no certainty on its purpose. And new discoveries are being made all the time; and the theories keep coming.This little book covers such sites as Pumapunku, Gobekli, and Derinkuyui – that some think were built thousands, perhaps many thousands, of years ago –. What a mind blower to even acknowledge that possibility.And that is only the beginning.Take Derinbkuyui - it is 283 feet deep –and could accommodate over 20,000 people, with their livestock. I had never heard of that, and I watch programs all the time of these types of subjects.What a mystery; and what a little gem this book is…It is full of things like that. And even better, it explains theories and states facts, historical and scientific, so you know there is a ton of research behind each subject. Great!I am glad I found it. I loved it.

I gotta say that I am fascinated by the unexplained and supernatural, and that’s why this book caught my eye. I like those ghost hunting shows and any kind of paranormal and supernatural that explores aliens and cryptozoology. So I got this book just to feed my natural curiosity and I learned a lot that I didn’t know about the pyramids of Giza. I even learned about a couple things that I had never heard of like Derinkuyu Underground City and Pumapunku. The book delves into these places and makes you think how these places came to be with the minimal technology that the people living that long ago had. It’s a great read that you should pick up to fuel your curiosity in the unexplained.

There's a lot of wondrous places covered in this book. One can argue that you can find similar or perhaps more info in Wikipedia but thats where the theories come in and add a personal touch to the book. These theories aren't just written out of the blue, the author actually did some homework and revealed the theories made by famous people and scientists. Plus each structure has an image too. It's a solid and fun book to read and it left me stunned.

This is a totally wonderful and fascinating book.It does what it promises to do, listing, with pictures, 7 of the worlds greatest mystery constructions.Many that I never knew even existed.There are the official explanations plus many types of hypotheses.Really worth getting.
