I don't normally write reviews but I wanted to share my experience because it has been so positive. I am a 38 year old woman with celiac disease and Hashimoto's. I live a very active lifestyle and eat pretty healthy but I cannot lose weight no matter how hard I try. I started having pain in the gallbladder area and thought that maybe I needed to research and find an alternative means to deal with it. I found the flush and researched the heck out of it. After reading this book I felt very comfortable going forward with the flush and decided that no matter what it would be beneficial to my health. I completed my first flush last night. I quit eating at noon and had my first Epsom salt drink at 6. Surprisingly is wasn't all that bad. Within minutes of drinking the grapefruit/oil drink I began to feel euphoric. I felt that way for the next 20 or so minutes until I fell asleep...so far not so bad. I woke up at 2:30am slightly nauseous and unable to get comfortable and fall back asleep. It took me until 5am to finally sleep again. The next couple of Epsom Salt drinks were terrible but I gulped them down in under a minute. This was the worst part of the whole flush for me but just get it over with and reap the rewards. After the second Epsom salt drink I began to pass hundreds of gallstones. They were pretty small and mostly green, some were lighter but there were tons of them!!! I continued to pass them all morning and at one point the entire water top in the toilet was 3/4 full of them. By 10am I had passed most of them but I am still getting some green pebbles and it is 11am. I couldn't believe the amazing results I had. I recommend this cleanse for anyone that is interested. Read this book and get informed, it really wasn't that bad and it was so worth it for the amount of gallstones that I was able to remove. I will keep updating my progress because I think this could really be helpful to others out there.

In February 2013 I was admitted to the hospital with extreme gastric pain. I was put on a morphine drip, had elevated liver enzymes in my blood work, had an ultrasound scan of my abdomen, and I was diagnosed with gallstones. The doctor viewed my scan results, and said my gallbladder was about 3/4 full of gallstones, and was infected. She put me on antibiotics, recommended a ZERO fat diet, and referred me to a surgeon to remove my gallbladder ASAP. She told me the gallbladder is not a necessary organ, I don't need it to survive.I did my own research on the subject. In my research, I discovered that YES. You DO need your gallbladder. Since I had no health insurance, and no $15,000 - $20,000 lying around to pay for surgery, I found Andreas Moritz's book, and opted to at least try it. If it didn't work, I would only be out the $10 or so I paid for it. But I should at least give it a try.This book is easy to follow, it makes a LOT of sense, and IT WORKS.My first flush, I got out HUNDREDS of stones. Each flush thereafter, I got out about as many. I have been doing one flush per month, and finished my 8th flush this past weekend. I have NOT HAD ONE ATTACK since I started this regimen. I have noticed the following improvements in my health:Better digestion. No gallbladder attacks! No more ER visits!!!My vision improved, I no longer need my glasses AT ALL. Crazy.My acne completely cleared up. My skin GLOWS now. It NEVER glowed before.Hormonal balance. (I was always on the verge of melting down every month)Incredible energy.Lower back pain, GONE.Very few mood swings.Sleep better.Increased immune system (I have not caught ONE cold or flu since I've been doing these flushes)The whole experience has taught me something I think everyone on the planet should know.The healthcare industry and doctors are not looking out for you. They are out to MAKE MONEY. Your local hospital, and surgeons do not make money off of selling you Epsom salts, grapefruits, and olive oil. Homeopathic remedies are not profitable for them, so they will not recommend these alternative treatments, no matter how successful they are.This flush is easy. Yes, the Epsom salts taste bitter. I put lemon juice & honey in mine, and throw it back. BETTER THAN MAJOR SURGERY. Yes fasting sucks. Again, it's BETTER THAN HAVING SURGERY. Pooping for an entire day is not how I would prefer to spend a Sunday, but once again, it's BETTER THAN REMOVING AN ORGAN YOUR BODY NEEDS, AND CAN REPAIR WITH THE HELP OF THIS FLUSH!!!This experience has changed my whole entire view on this countries healthcare approach, and it has changed my lifestyle. I now view my body with respect, and I treat it accordingly. I no longer even need a doctor, as my health is better now that it was in my 20's.I gave up eating meat altogether. I am vegan on most days. I'm not perfect. I still have the occasional slice of cheesy pizza, or mac-n-cheese, or cake & ice cream. But the majority of the time, I am very careful about what food I fuel my body with. I have also done a lot of research, and feel that eating organic, and growing my own vegetables is the best idea. I avoid anything grown with pesticides, or vegetables that have been genetically modified by shady corporations. I have never felt better in my entire life, and look forward to the day I go back to the radiologist, and get a scan of my gallbladder, so I can wave it in that ER doctor's face, and ask her if she still thinks I should have surgery?!?!?!If you are having ANY digestive issues, BUY THIS BOOK. It will change your life. I'm not exaggerating, and I have nothing to gain from writing this review. If anything, I'm hoping this review encourages you to try this flush. The flush is easy to do, and you will be so surprised how many other health conditions you have which also improve. Inside your body, everything is interconnected. If one system is out of whack, other systems follow suit. Your liver is SO important. Clean it out, optimize it's function, and keep it's best friend, the gallbladder. You have the power to heal yourself. You don't have to be sick and tired anymore. It's your choice. Pay a ton of money for surgery & expensive RX medications. My husband and I just finished the liver flush. He said he had over a hundred stones flushed out (his were light brown and greasy looking). I had several hundred come out and mine were bright green and looked like frozen peas.The instructions were easy to follow, but it did require some prep work for the 6 days leading up to the cleanse and everything has to be room temperature or warmer. We bought a 6 pack of 1L bottles of tart cherry juice from our local organic grocery store, and already had Epsom salt and good quality olive oil, so cost was minimal.We purchased enema bags for about $30 each from Amazon as it would have cost us about $500 together for colon hydrotherapy. So it's very affordable to do on a budget.On the day of the cleanse, you will have to be near a bathroom at all times, but not a huge inconvenience if you plan it for a day off. From personal experience, advise users to get a soothing spray with witch hazel or Tucks pads as you may be a bit sore in the back passage.It's definitely no worse than a colonoscopy prep and you get to see stones being eliminated from your body!Finally, my husband lost about 10 pounds and feels great. I've lost about 5 (only weighed 110 to start) and feel pretty good, but I just finished this AM, so am still a bit tired from the day. I did notice that my eczema flares have calmed down significantly since 2 days ago.We will definitely be doing this again!

Interesting information on history of knives and chapters on his retail store suppliers. Not enough substance on sharpening and knife techniques. Recipes seem to be fluff to add bulk to the book. Should be more depth about knives. For example, he should have discussed the various edge treatments (granton, serrated, etc.), and the different cutting techiques, knife skills and so on. If you are looking for a book that will help you choose a knife (or several), this is not it.

I bought this book after hearing a public radio interview with the author. Given his enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge, I was expecting the book to reflect that the level of insights from that radio segment--with the added benefit of photos and diagrams. Unfortunately, the section on technique and actual knife sharpening is not that helpful. There are not many pictures or details for the finer techniques conveyed. What's worse, when there are photos there are no captions! So even when photos and diagrams are used, there is no text explaining what you're seeing! The main sharpening instruction is two pages of text alone followed by two pages of uncaptioned photos. No image in the entire book is explained directly with a caption. No specific step is denoted with both text and image at the same time. So the reader is forced to look at a picture and try to decide if what they're seeing is an instance of, for example, the type of knife the author just described at an earlier part of the text. This is not a good book for the purpose of step-by-step instruction. The informative chapters and history are interesting enough, but not very well written in terms of style. Overall, one gets the feeling like the book was made by folks who do not really read or use books very often.

Great intro to good knives and how to maintain them. Excellent presentation (quality) as well.Not just information about knives, but where they come from, the difference in the metals and the backgrounds of people who make the best.

The key insight from the book is how much cutting and food preparation are seen much more as part of cooking in the Japanese kitchen, which explains why Japanese knives developed the way they did. For me personally, especially since I became an entirely plant-based chef, I began to appreciate Japanese knives more and more. This book covers all the basics, but you will come away with a profound understanding why Japanese knives have become so popular.

A very personal set of comments on Japanese knives, how to sharpen them, and some history. Covers European knives briefly. Omits mention of Bob Kramer, et al. who make very good knives in the U.S. Nicely illustrated. Good book to have for cooks and anyone interested in using knives in the kitchen.

Would have liked more drawings, or pictures and less wandering around with theory.

I used to dull any blade to butter knife level. This book changed that.

I love how this book uses Fridas own words. Her life was so sad, but her art was beautiful. Highly recommended.

Frida Kahlo is one of the greatest artists of the 20th Century. Anything that sheds light or teaches about her is fantastic. The book goes into detail about her art in each period of her life as well as the other aspects of her life.

It's an ok book. Not long enough, but I did enjoy the pictures. She had a hard life.

Not enough detail of her life could have been more informative as had I not seen the movie I would not of been able to follow her life story

A wonderful bio novella!!

As an artist, I've admired Frida's work for years, so have read several biographies about her. This book, which was illustrated with Frida's own work and photographs, is a marvelous example. Carmen T. Bernier-Grand wrote the book as a series of poems in first person based on different events in Frida's life. (Various quotes are integrated throughout as well.) It is obvious by her poignant writing that the author researched Frida's life thoroughly and had a real understanding of how the various events in Frida's life affected the intensity of her artwork. In addition, there is a short biography, chronology, and glossary at the end of the book that may help clarify the situations covered in the poems. I highly recommend this book. However, please be aware that although this book was written as an introduction to the artist's work for children around 6th grade and above, some of the life events discussed may be considered too mature for some audiences.

It only takes an hour to read all the text in this volume and to read the poetry that helps explain how Frida may have felt when she painted the works included in the volume. None of the artwork is unknown to anyone who is familiar with the work of Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderon who chose to call herself "Frida, German for `peace.'" Sometimes she hated it when the last name of her two-time (pun intended) husband Diego Rivera was added to make her Frida Rivera. Why she disliked that is explained in one of the author's poems. One of the statements included from Frida's letters and diary gives her opinion of the United States. "The most important thing for everyone in Gringolandia is to have ambition and becomes `somebody,' and frankly, I don't have the least ambition to become anybody." This is a very readable introduction to Frida and her work for students and young adults. The poems hit some of the main themes of her life without going into detail. For instance, she carried on "a brief affair with the exiled Soviet revolutionary, Leon Trotsky, whom Diego had brought to Mexico." Frida was lucky that she too didn't die from a hatchet to the brain, as did Trotsky when he was tracked down and assassinated. It's definitely a worthwhile addition to any school reading list.

This is another of Bernier-Grand's free verse poetry biographies of famous Latino people presented in picture book format marketed to children; she has published books on Diego Rivera, Cesar Chavez, and Pablo Picasso to name a few. Frida is marketed by the publisher to grade 8 and up.I appreciated that this book is illustrated with original artwork because Kahlo's work is so unique and telling about it describe it in words while not showing it would not work. I really felt the book was helped by the inclusion of Frida's artwork versus her book Diego which was illustrated by David Diaz, and left me curious to see the actual work (which I satisfied by using the Internet).The books spans her entire life and the main point is emotional and physical suffering, her polio and accident and many subsequent surgeries and medical complications Her miscarriages and the medical procedures and emotional pain is also covered. Very briefly mentioned are her political leanings, stated to be "more socialist than communist" and that she was a member of the communist party. In mentioning that Diego asked for a divorce after his affair, and hers, she leaves that hot topic at that.At the back of the book is a biographical sketch with a bit more information, some of it more controversial (such as she had her affairs not just with men but also women). There is also a timeline and a glossary of Spanish terms.This style of a biography for middle schoolers in poem format makes for quick reading, it takes about an hour to read. Although this is not as thorough as the biographies published for kids in the 1960s and prior one would argue that kids are not reading entire long chapter book biographies these days. This book is approachable and easy to read. It looks like a young child's picture book and the artwork keeps it interesting. If kids do read this, they will learn something and I guess knowing something is better than nothing. I am getting into stop motion and like bought this book for some pointers. However it is very specific to materials and technique and I needed something broader. I wouldn't make the investment in materials for what is practically professional quality animation. I did find the book well written, clear and well illustrated ( Kindle edition) ; perhaps a little too brief. I certainly don't regret purchasing it.

This book is pricey but the information it contains is very hard to get elsewhere. Its for a person who wants to make professional level figures for stop motion animation, maybe advanced hobbyists who are pretty serious about it.There are three major sections to the book:1. how to to sculpting of figures in clays2. How to take these clay sculptures and turn them into foam injected puppets3. How to do the foam build up method over an armature to create a puppet.This is a fifty dollar investment so I will give you more about these things.Parts 1 and 2 are all about sculpting a clay figure then casting a plaster mold around it. Once that mold is done you put the armature in and cast the foam into it. This whole process is pretty involved and you have to take care of a lot of details. But, if you get this all down you will create some amazing puppets. I tried this whole process but could never get it right. That's my failing not the book. I ended up moving on to the process in section 3....In section 3 you create an armature then build up pieces of foam around it. This makes the musculature and shape of the figure. Then you coat it with materials and latex rubber to give it a skin. I did all this and successfully created my puppet (2 foot dragon)So, The book is good, shows the processes but you have got to be serious about the making of animation puppets.

As the title of the manual suggests, the book is a primer of learning the fundamentals of foam injection and build-up techniques, material which is (especially the unique process of build-up technique) difficult to find when wishing to create realistic Ray Harryhausen/Willis O'Brien-type animation puppets (as outlined in the build-up chapter of the manual).The book is called "A Manual of Foam Injection, Build-Up, and Finishing Techniques", not "The Manual...", and therefore one would assume before purchasing it that is yet another text on creating stop-motion puppets, and would be a viable addition to one's stop-motion library. The copy at the back the manual (as well as in web advertisements) indicates that this manual also covers the creation of replacement models for animation. A chapter is devoted to basic sculpting techniques to initiate a beginner in the amenities of muscle structure and its importance to the creation of more realistic stop-motion models. This was, however, not the crux of the manual per se, which is why only one chapter was devoted to sculpting.The primarily complaints seem to be in its cost and the quality of the paper stock and images, as well as absence of more material to make the book more "saleable". However, further detail explanations of other types of anatomies (i.e. quadrupeds, fantasy creatures, etc.), would have driven the cost of the manual up exponentially. The manual is overpriced as it is.An entire chapter is devoted to the foam injection technique, and is explained in a simple and concise easy-to-follow explanation. As such, the manual has been geared to people interested in the art form, but who do not have advanced skill levels in sculpting, mold making, and foam injection.Regrettably, the publisher chose to use black and white photographs, and at low resolution. As such, the images suffer. It would have been preferable to use higher resolution images, and in color.If a kitchen oven cannot be used for foam injection in one's home, one might try to be resourceful enough to not give up and think of an alternative solution; namely, to use a kiln oven in a garage or other room that is out of harms way. It is common knowledge in the visual effects/stop-motion community that hot foam can be difficult and toxic to work with. The manual only confirms this.Given the subject matter and material covered within the manual, it should be less expensive, given what one gets for their investment. One should consider contacting the publisher if they feel that the manual is overpriced, or at the very least return the item if they are not satisfied.

This ending was everything I wanted, won't spoil but just take the time to imagine what that entails. Honestly this was a perfect ending to a perfect series. While I won't lie, I could always use more of Emelle and her boys (wouldn't ever turn more down) this ending was wholly satisfying. If you are ever in a state of depression and you need a pick me up this novel is the one for you. It has the romance you yearn for with a sucker punch amount of comedy. I've never laughed harder, Emelle has to be my favorite mc of all times. I can't word this eloquently enough, but if you like RH you won't be disappointed with this one.

Okay so this was a fantastic short! Usually you don’t get your monies worth, but this time you definitely did!So we do meet the guys parents, and not surprisingly Roark’s mom is a high society snob that treats emelle like trash. And she didn’t even remember her housekeepers name! The poor man has spent 50 years working for you and you can’t be bothered to remember his name?!So by now it’s been 3 years since emelle killed the prince. She now has a daughter and is pregnant again. And now she has to deal with a bunch of Cupid’s who already failed their first training program.Did I mention a bugger eating, furry, wart ball flashing troll decided to become a Cupid? Well yeah that happened.Cupid 69 is still mourning Belren aka The Horned Hook so Sev is also doing her portion of the work. We all know how that’s going.All in all this short story was highly entertaining

I so love ❤️ Emil. She was even more hilarious in this novella than in the others. The things she says is always the best and funniest stuff. Like no filter but in the best way. And it doesn’t surprise me that she is super clumsy while pregnant.But the best part was the labor. All cursing of the Genfins and Okot was hilarious. And then she calls the Demon by accident mid push. Oh my word best thing ever. I’ve had two kids and I still don’t know exactly what giving birth looks like and from what felt like since I went all natural I imagine it ain’t pretty. So I feel for the Demon. I really do. Probably ruined it for the rest of his life. 😂I can’t wait to get more from this group. 😍 I love them.

If you fell in love with Emelle and her mates throughout the trilogy that came before this novella, you're definitely going to fall even more in love now. 😍With Valentine's day right around the corner when the story starts, action happens pretty quick. We get to see even more of the love that Emelle and her mates share. There are plenty of your typical Emelle moments to keep us on our toes but overall I loved this story. The storyline was solid, stayed true to previous events and the ending was exactly what I didn't know I needed.

Raven Kennedy is a genius! Thank you for giving us a glimpse of the happy ever after.Just like in the other 3 books this novella is full of sweet moments, moments that have you laughing like a loon in public & more of Emelle's "genius" ideas. It's really nice to see Emelle coming along as a character. While she's certainly matured, all of her best characteristics are still present - her well neaning crazy ideas, the no filter & her need to be liked by all while not really giving a crap. Her mates are the same - in love & going a little insane but it warmed my heart to see how all her guys now function as a unit. They've truly built a family and I loved every word!

I adore this story so much, it's difficult to express properly in words. The way that Raven Kennedy crafts her characters and the worlds around them are simply perfect. I will never get enough of this world she's created and can only hope that she's far from done with it no matter the branch it takes. This adorable novella is simply icing on the cake.

This is one of those series that stay with you after you are done reading it and wonder what happened next. Well, I had such an amazing time reading their Next and how everything turn out for E and her guys. I couldn’t stop laughing on the last chapter and was so happy for E and her family. Thank you for such a great novella.

Every now and again a book comes along that truly impacts on one and once read will never be forgotten.The autobiographical novel by Sylvia Plath, describing her painful ordeal when she becomes mentally ill is such a book.This could have been a thoroughly depressing and self centred story in the hands of another and many may assume this when reading the blurb.However do not be put off, because The Bell Jar is anything BUT depressing.Plath writes with great humour and I laughed out loud more than once.She also writes with the intelligence and skill of someone twice her age.Her battle with mental illness (Bipolar Disorder) and her eventual recovery is written so honestly, so brilliantly I was more than impressed.Of course there is sadness in the aftermath of the book because we know she actually took her own life at aged thirty, the same year The Bell Jar was published.The world is a little worse off with the loss of this wonderful talent.Anyone who has any inkling of how The Black Dog can grab you by the scruff of the neck from out of the blue will appreciate this book and anyone who simply enjoys outstanding literature will be equally impressed.A great talent.

Yes, indeed, this is an intensely harrowing but still subtle odyssey through the battle with mental illness. Sylvia Plath’s timeless epic still rings true today…Esther Greenwood, our fictional protagonist, is unfortunately only a veiled cover for Plath’s real world disease which reached its nadir in 1963 when she took her own life at the young age of thirty. And it’s this volume, her only full length novel, that explicitly but also with a seamless literary touch, conjures the deep emotional and physical conflicts borne from this terrible affliction. Within, we follow Esther on a slow slide into insanity with such nuance and foreboding that the reader is almost compelled to believe that it is all true. And given Plath’s heartbreaking outcome, the literary debate lingers on as to if this is, in fact, that shrouded memoir.The story opens with Esther in New York, during the summer of her collegiate years, working and modeling for a prestigious NY magazine. Through many obscure and complex observations, we slowly get a picture of her; Boston suburbanite, Smith college-type on scholarship, the world literally at her feet. But it is, still at these beginning stages, the random comment or action that begins to creep in to her personality that makes the reader aware that something is not quite right. Sure enough, as we move on, Esther becomes more and more un-hinged, doing things far outside of her personality.Soon we reach a point where she attempts suicide and discusses suicide as the answer to get her out from “under the Bell Jar.” The literary ease with which we go from NY magazine model to suicide victim is stark…I found myself having to put the book down occasionally to internalize what I’d just read. This is really an amazing ability that Plath had…flowing from one emotion to the other without noticing until the full force of Esther’s actions take hold. Where the first third of the novel is fairly light, the last two thirds are riveting, very difficult to put down. It’s very hard to understand how Plath had difficulty getting this work published…only under a pseudonym in 1963 London and not until 1971 in the U.S. after it had been turned down, harshly, by publisher Harper & Row. Today it is printed and re-printed in many languages and enjoys its well-deserved place among the literary classics.To summarize, if one decides to delve into the classics, you can’t go wrong with this work. Dark, even frightful at times but always flowing and well written, The Bell Jar is both a stark referendum on mental illness and an amazing reading experience.

Esther Greenwood gets depressed. Really depressed. And she's also a young woman in the 50's/60's, just to add a not-so-helpful factor as well.The elephant-in-the-room when reading this is A) it is known to be semi-autobiographical, and B) Sylvia Plath ended up committing suicide. That might for account how richly Plath captures depression -- how you rationalize the little things, the abrasive way nice, shiny, perfect things in the world exist around you, and the fear you can never feel the way you used to again. And I think the authenticity combined with Plath's stellar language (you can't take the poetry out of the poet) makes this probably among the best novels ever written about depression. The way Esther mulls over her virginity, her mother, her ex-boyfriend, and how to kill herself are enrapturing from beginning to end.To me this is more 4.5 stars (or even 4.49), but rounded up because even the dullest parts of the novel are carried by witty narration and rhythmic prose. I don't think there'll be much to the story that will surprise a modern reader -- many stories have since followed the same structure of a young woman struggling with depression -- but none of them have the grace, humor, and merciless touch of Plath's words.

I love her. Probably because I can relate to a lot of what she went through being mentally ill myself. Such a wonderful talent that we lost way too soon like so many others. I cannot help but wonder what other wonderful things she would have written had she not made that fateful decision to end her life. She writes at great length about her life, her feelings, and all she went through. I have wanted this book for a long time now, and it did not disappoint. I want everything she has ever written. I do wish her husband hadn't destroyed the journals she had written up to the time of her death. If you love Sylvia Plath as I do, this is a must read!
