I have given many such copies out to those interested in learning the MORE available for Christians who want to live as Jesus lived and lay hands on those in need. I also recommend the healing tapes or CD's. How To Heal The Sick is also a sequel book to help with understanding the TNT, TPT, TLT, etc. Each area of how this is done is in the "How To" book. Our God is alive and well...and each Christian is called to heal the sick, pray for the release of oppression, and witness to the Power of our God to make them whole. Mark 16:15-18. Jesus is alive today.

This book should be used with the "Handbook for Healing." It give a lot of guidelines on how to minister to the sick. My faith grows as I read so many creative techniques on healing. Understanding that we are the body of Christ and it is Jesus who lives in us and the power of God's Holy Spirit that performs miracles makes me praise God for partnership and giving us the authority and power in Jesus name to cast out demons, heal the sick and raise the dead. Living in signs, wonders, and miracles is amazing.

Bought the first Diary of a Minecraft Zombie book for my somewhat reluctant reader who LOVES Minecraft and I read it myself before giving it to him. (Yes, I'm an overly cautious mom.) BUT, I was pleasantly surprised - it was really cute! Not like "awww!" cute, but it was funny and well written, and it addresses typical kid/pre-teen issues without being over the top, but it does it from the perspective of a Zombie kid - mind you, not a flesh-eating, "Walking Dead," scare my kid so he won't sleep zombie, but one that's appropriate for kids his age (9 years when he began reading them).We both enjoyed them so much we've kept buying them and hope they continue coming out with new books! I've also tried a few other Minecraft theme books, and one series was just too "blah" and one that was a similar "diary of..." was okay, but this series just really is good.If you've got a younger kid who likes Minecraft - this is something worth checking out.

The book is really funny and all Mine craft lovers out there would love to hear about a Zombie life. We've all read Jeff Kinneys "Diary of a Wimpy kid" and readers everywhere love it. Now Mine craft fans can enjoy a "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" Mine craft style. Now, most people think "Hey the author just copied Jeff's Book and made it Mine craft!" But let's face it, this book can be enjoyable to anyone. Once again, Mine craft lovers can DEFINITELY enjoy a book like this I also recommend reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid for people who haven't read (but most of us did) . And read more Mine craft DOAWK (Diary of a wimpy kid) like diary of a wimpy VILLAGER. I've read it and it was good. Stuff like diarys of ocelot, wolf, enderman, or Angry Alex also should be nice to Mine craft lovers and DOAWK lovers so I really enjoy this book and I hope you will agree with me too.

My son and I absolutely love all of these books. They are hilarious! We read them together because they are just too good not to. I love that they are so perfect for my son's age (11) and talk about important issues in a funny way. You know, puberty, cheating on tests, treating your friends right, that stuff. The wait for the next book seems like forever!

My son is 8 and has been reading these books since he was 7. He loves them! It’s the only way I can get him interested in reading. It sometimes feels like as soon as one comes in the mail, he’s begging me to order the next one!

My son is in love with this series and is now on book 10. I am thankful to find a series of books that my 8 year old son loves and has not given me any trouble when I tell him it is time to read every day, as it is required by his teacher that they have to read at least 20 minutes each day.

My 8 yo son is not much of a reader but loves Minecraft. I was hoping that buying these books would get him more interested in reading and not so much of a fight when it comes to his 10 min reading that he has to do nightly for school. And this book has done the trick. My son will even ask to read a little longer sometimes because he is "at a good part." lol Would highly recommend for any young reader that likes Minecraft.

My 9-yr old says: This book is very interesting and exciting. It has good lessons about friendship and working together. It makes you think about who your true friends are.

My son loves these books. They got my reluctant reader to devour books.

This book should not be called Ogilvy On Advertising. It should be called Miles Young on Advertising. When Ogilvy wrote the original book, he had a way of writing that made it seem like the two of you were chatting it up in a café; like he was speaking directly to you. This book reads like a college textbook, inundated with trivial vocabulary and irrelevant research. On the latter, Ogilvy stressed the importance of research, but this is just overkill. Does anyone in advertising need a history of the internet, let alone mini-biographies of the original founders?It's also hard to distinguish who this book is for, because it does an awful job at defining lingo. Anyone not in advertising won't know what a USP is. For anyone with a more traditional background, Young does define acronyms, but says little else about what they mean in terms of the bigger picture. And for a social/digital native like myself, it reads like a stale science history book, complete with bare-bones diagrams that do little else but exist. I try to read a chapter a day, but it's been a struggle even doing that.To sum up, Miles Young does a very surface-level job of defining the information age we live in today, the behaviors of Millenials and Centennials, case studies from brands like Dove, etc. But he never digs deep enough for any of it to matter. Don't let the name fool you. Ogilvy would not have written a book like this were he alive today.

If you've read the original by David Ogilvy, then be prepared to be in for a lose.It's long-winded, stuffy and the author is trying to impress you.I couldn't stand it and put it down 1/4 of the way in.

Miles Young is an excellent writer who gives a lot of great insight into the future of marketing.Something to know is that this book is more of a sequel or follow up to the original “Ogilvy On Advertising.”If you want a foundational look at advertising, the original book will be a better read for you.

This book was the first novel published by Barry Lyga and it is the first of four in the Brookdale High series, which I just happened to read in reverse order. The strength of Lyga's writing is evident from this first novel and gets better with every book he writes. Lyga has an incredible gift as a storyteller. He captures life in and around high school in this series in a wonderful way. His stories are about real people with real problems and real life. Each of his books has something the reader can take away and it will help them be better at being. But I think the greatest testament to Lyga's craft as a writer is that even though I just finished this book, I am already planning to reread it.Brookdale High or South Brook High is an interesting school. Not the worst school and not the best. There are cliques, and jocks, and geeks - all the usual groups you would find in and around a high school. And like most high schools, some of them get it and some do not. For Kyra Sellers and Fanboy (aka Donnie) it is just putting in time. Both want to be somewhere else. Both need things to change. Kyra witnesses Fanboy being punched repeatedly in gym class and wonders why he allows it to happen. Soon they have a strange friendship developing. They both have a love of Graphic Novels but prefer different styles. Fanboy is working on one and Goth Girl wants to help make it better. But as we all know, life in high school or life in general is usually not easy and things often go wrong or at least not the way we expect, and in this story that is definitely the case.There are a number of strengths that make this novel so good. First, there are the characters. Readers cannot help but become fans of Kyra and Fanboy; they are so well written and capture much of the spirit of being an outsider in high school you can't help but root for them. Second is the story itself. It has a sinister darkness to it, but at the same time provides some hope. It is not a fast-paced novel but it will definitely keep your attention and interest turning the pages. Third is the essence of both high school and life that Lyga has managed to capture. This was an amazing novel to read and after reading it I now plan to go back and reread the whole series!

It is Kyra who bestows the nickname of Fanboy on Donnie.Kyra encourages Fanboy to explore beyond the boundaries of his creative genius; she draws Fanboy into her chaotic life of danger and intrigue.Indeed, Kyra's influence is so prevalent that Fanboy takes a personal interest in her welfare. He even helps save her from being arrested after she acted a fool at the comic/graphic novel convention by making a spectacle of herself. This is a good Javascript book for ES5. However, ES5 is years out of date. ES6 is from 2015. This book was written back in 2011. A lot has changed in the Javascript world since then. Just one example. This book was written before promises.The author is a good writer, perhaps even a great writer. In addition, the author certainly knows JavaScript quite well. However, I am writing this review in 2018. The book reflects the state of the art in 2011. A lot has changed in the JavaScript world since 2011. Of course, ES6 (or later) is now the standard. However, JavaScript frameworks have come to dominate the JavaScript world. The author does provide some information about jQuery. However, even the jQuery information is from 2011. These days, React, Boostrap, Ember, Vue, Angular, etc. are highly influential.If the author, published a new version of this book, updated to ES6/7/8 and with more information about JavaScript frameworks, I would recommend it. At this point I can not recommend a book from 2011.

I simply wanted to say how much David's book has meant to my learning and understanding of Javascript, and programming in general. I had initially tried learning through many free sources online, and while most were very good in tackling specific issues or illustrating solutions to esoteric problems, none gave me the confidence that I was getting a solid foundation in the language, or programming in general.In search of something better, I looked to stackoverflow which constantly recommended David's book. To be honest, I pirated it first. But after the first 3 chapters I went straight to Amazon and bought it, as well as Javascript Patters from Stoyan and Douglas's Crockford book Javascript: the good parts (another big hit on the stackoverflow forums). I was dumbfounded at how easy and clear his book made the language. For the first time, ideas were presented in a logical order, with concepts obviously introduced to build on previous ones. Concepts I've been told are essential (hoisting, closures, etc) but were intimidating because I'd never seen them in a cohesive narrative, shocked me in how intuitive they actually were when written well and paired with succinct examples.I know this all seems overzealous enough to border on the insincere, but for someone who always had a passion for technology and wanted to create his own, but was beginning to be deterred from it all because I thought it was simply above my grasp, I want to say thank you to David and O'Reilly.They very may well have single-handedly created a new developer, and have dramatically changed my life in the process.Thanks again.

I've been a professional web developer for 18 years and have always read every JavaScript book, blog, post and ebook I could find. A junior web developer on staff asked me if I could recommend a good JavaScript book. I recommended Maintainable JavaScript by Nicholas Zakas, JavaScript Patterns by Stoyan Stefanov and this David Flanagan gem as the first priority and gave it as a welcome aboard gift. I don't care how good at Googling JavaScript questions you are, if you read this book cover to cover, you'll keep thinking, "I didn't know you could do that!" I highly recommend it to web devs of any level.

I am very familiar with O'Reilly books and have quite an extensive collection. So I have gotten used to the general writing style and layout of most of their books despite almost every book being written by a different author.This book however, despite on the back stating "Prior Programming Experience Recommended", proceeds for most of the book explaining things that someone with prior experience should already know. Also, if you plan on reading this book in a linear fashion to learn JS and avoid missing something by skipping around in the book, you might get very frustrated like I did.The author explains subjects and gives examples and then many times right afterwards says something similar to "This example contains code or functions that will be explained in a later section."Also, many people will be buying this guide to do Client-Side JS...ie. in a browser on a webpage. This book doesn't get to that until almost halfway through the book...like 300 pages.Despite these flaws, the book is EXTREMELY comprehensive. Certainly something to keep on your desk or readily handy if you program in JS often.

If you want to learn JavaScript from the ground up, and have a solid foundation, this is the book.JavaScript: The Good Parts is ok, and Effective JavaScript is quite good too, but for a good foundation of JS, I'd still read this book first.

This book didn't teach me the power of JavaScript closures , its functional idiom nor did it demystify the elusive "THIS" object. But there's something that makes it very close to my heart. Like Peter, I was washing my fishing net, ready to quit JavaScript for good when a simple statement in chapter 13 turned things around: I did not know where to embed DOM- manipulating scripts in a web page. I usually mistakenly placed them inside the head tag, so they always misfired before the document was ready. Don't laugh, this was the greatest speed bump I experienced in JS. Now, I can place my program anywhere in the page. Many will agree with me that chapter 15 is the holy of hollies in this book. Master it and you can query any node in the page, inject and delete nodes on the fly. And that is javascript's destiny. Here and there, the author draws attention to how to write cross-browser codes, skill that is a matter of life or death in production. For reference, this is arguably the JavaScript book you will consult first before heading to the stackoverflow. As dynamic as javascript's evolution is, the author keeps good record of its reincarnations, birthmarks and scars inflicted by the holy wars among browsers.
