About the Author

Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867–1957) was born in a log cabin in the Wisconsin woods. With her family, she pioneered throughout America’s heartland during the 1870s and 1880s, finally settling in Dakota Territory. She married Almanzo Wilder in 1885; their only daughter, Rose, was born the following year. The Wilders moved to Rocky Ridge Farm at Mansfield, Missouri, in 1894, where they established a permanent home. Easy to follow. Young children will get an idea of how difficult life was back then. A great insight on how the men & women & children had to work together to get daily chores completed. I like how the book explained how simple tools were used to get maple out of trees and tools for farm work. A fun story in the eyes of Laura.

I wouldn't recommend these volumes to those who remember the classic hardcovers with all the quaint drawings from Garth William which are NOT included here. I wish the advertisement would have pointed that out. I would not have purchased them. It's straight read of all the books.

I love these books, and revisiting them again after 30 years during the Christmas holidays has been a beautiful trip down memory lane. The only problem is that I'm in the middle of Little House on the Prairie and the book skips from page 148 back to 117, goes to 148 then on to page 181, meaning the entire middle section of the book is gone. What a bummer. And now it's too late to return it, of course. I hope you buy and enjoy these books for a lifetime, but if I were you, I'd check the pages when you receive the books so that you know you're getting all of the pages.

This book's text is exactly like the original. The quality is great. Pages are thick and glossy and the illustrations are bright and colored in. I recommend this book to every age!

I bought this set of nine books for my grand daughter because she loves to read books and she has had them on her wish list for over a year. They come in a nice little box and the pictures are just right . She is eleven years old and I bought them for her about a week ago and she is now on her fourth book in reading it seems hard for her to put down . When I see her she gets a book out and wants to read to me and the wording in the books is very easy for her to read and understand . I would recommend buying single or the whole set to anyone that likes to read . I did not receive this book at any discount or reduction in price for any review, I just thought they were a great book for any one to read.

I have read and reread these beloved books several times in my life. First time in the first grade, then again at different milestones throughout my teen and young adult years. It is this reading in my middle age, that I think has been my favorite. Winter has arrived in earnest, and their is a fire once again in the wood stove across the room from my favorite reading chair, in the old family farmhouse. It dawned on me that my love of these books has come full circle. It was a night just like this 43 years ago that I read " Little House in the Big Woods" for the first time, and I am so glad I did, because reading it again has truly made me feel that I am home again. I encourage any parent or guardian to give this same gift to any child in their lives who loves to read, or who needs encouraged to read. Who knows maybe they will need to feel the warmth and safety of childhood again at some future date like I did tonight.

I grew up reading the Little House book series. I devoured every book as a child over and over and still have the original books from my childhood. I would immerse myself into the stories and found they really got my imagination going wild. They helped me hone my coping and empathy skills as a child, because the first person narrative is so well written, you feel you are part of the story. I truly felt each and every tragedy and triumph of the Ingalls family. I purchased this particular set as Salvation Army Angel Tree gift to offer a new generation the magical world of Laura Ingalls. The books are so beautifully written and offer a glimpse into an era of long ago.I am actually purchasing this set again, to keep for myself, so I have a beautiful fresh set of books for my collection.

This is the first in the Little House series, and what I find interesting about it is that it seems to be written from the perspective of a young child...her books "grow" with the reads. If reading as an adult, don't let the childlike writing discourage you from finishing the entire series. I loved them all as a child, and enjoy also reading them as an adult.

The full nine-book set is packaged in an attractive thin cardboard box to keep the set together. The books are the basic paperback editions with simple black-and-white drawings throughout. My daughter and I have really enjoyed reading these together. learning about the day-in-day out struggles and joys of 19th century life in the big woods, on the wagon trail, and on the midwestern prairie. She (6 years old) is captivated and in love with Laura and her life and family.There are many other sets out there, but this was the best price that I could find for the complete set. What a bargain for the joys my daughter and I have had reading them together!

Since leaving home, Albom has not actively practiced his faith, but the rabbi, Albert Lewis, asked Albom to do his eulogy. That led Albom to spend hours and hours with Lewis over the next several years. As their friendship grows, so does Albom's appreciation for the rabbi he knew as a child but never really knew.Lewis served this congregation for generations; it's the only placed he ever served. Albom's reports of their time spent together bring out Lewis's wisdom and teaching in such a way that make the reader long to sit at his feet and listen to stories. Their conversations range widely, encompassing questions big and little. As a Jewish man married to a Christian, Albom is especially interested in the question of inter-religious relations. Lewis tells the story of an early episode in his tenure. After an ugly encounter between a priest from the parish next door and one of the synagogue members, the priest (at the insistence of his superior) and Rabbi Lewis walked arm in arm around the parish schoolyard, during recess, in a demonstration of the fact that the two faiths can coexist. Covington had been in and out of prison, immersed in drugs and crime, when he became a Christian and began serving others. Albom initially met Covington to investigate the ministry, to determine whether his foundation would give them a grant. He eventually wrote a newspaper column about their having the heat turned off because of their failure to pay the gas bill. It didn't help that the roof of the old church had a gaping hole. That little bit of publicity brought interest and money to the ministry, and now the church has a solid roof! We might be inspired by the biographies of great leaders or historical figures, but these two clergymen, common men by the standards of history, possess and convey the kind of greatness that really matters, impacting the lives of people around them. There are volumes to be written about our neighbors, the family in the pew behind us in church, the family who runs the dry cleaners I go to, the bus driver who picks up my daughter every day. I know those books will never be written, but Albom reminds me that if I take time to listen, I might hear some stories worth remembering and will likely learn a few things about living life.

Positively LOVED this book. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is quite possibly my favorite Mitch Albom book -- and I've read them all!This is not a fiction story. It is a real story of two men -- a rabbi and a Christian minister -- cleverly woven together by the author. It is the story of not just having faith in God or yourself, but in other people as well. People aren't always what we think they are at first glance (or second, or third...) but if we give them a chance, we will see them for who they truly are at heart.As usual, Albom writes with sensitivity, love, and the entire range of human emotion. This is definitely a must-read for anyone that is human.

This is one of those books that every single human being should experience . The morale of the story for me ....we are all flawed humans, some more than others , but we all have the potential to redeem ourselves in the eyes of God and humanity. Mitch, the Reb, and Henry Covington have traveled vastly different paths , but in the end are really more alike than they are different ....you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover ...there’s goodness somewhere in everyone . Read this book....you’ll be glad you did .

Really enjoyed this book and Albom’s ability to appreciate the extraordinary within people. The dual narratives work well showing drastically different paths of faith that rest on the same base. Despite the religious underpinnings, there is little preachiness. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in faith.

The characters surrounding Henry were well developed but not as well developed for the those surrounding the Rabbi. That was why I was so surprised that that Rabbi would leave something as personal as his last sermon with his care giver. Probably because the book is so short there isn't room for much detail, but there were other similar instances that had the same effect on me. I really liked the book and have recommended it to others.

I read this book in one sitting, it has left such an impression on me. What a blessing the author was given to spend this time with Reb and Henry and pass on to us this beautiful book. Can't even express the emotions flowing through me. Thank you so much for your wonderful writing. It really has inspired me.

Mitch Albom creates a beautiful story based on two diverse characters from two religions and creates the link that goes back thousands of years through the act of faith in God. It's a book worth reading in this day and age where diversity is predominantly visible even in areas where common grounds can be sought.It's wonderful how Albom depicts the unselfish nature in which the two characters reach out to people of walks of life irrespective of status.

This was a compelling read. 2 stories about 2 very different men who become devoted to God. The message is simple. . . even though the faith may be different in the end we all believe the same thing. Perfect read at Christmas!

This book is full of colored pictures, as well as, a couple of black and white. I love the lay outs for different gardens. I am planning on putting both a vegetable and herb garden near my back door in 2013; after looking at several ideals in the book - I can't wait to try them out! I was surprise to see that raised bed dated back to the 1500 era. I always thought it was a newer way of gardening. This book is really worth every penny I paid for it. And I don't think you will be disappointed buying it. In the spring when I prune, I am hoping to have enough limbs and branches to make a small wooden bench similar to page 34 to put a tray of birdseed and a potted plant on it.The garden on page 55 makes me drool; I so wish I had that much land for a garden like that. I love all the rustic tepee structures threw out the book. Farther into the book talks about edible gardens; I have always loved that ideal and had it where I use to live. Just think you are out mowing the grass and come across your blueberry bushes or strawberries and pause to sample a few. That is so refreshing I can tell you from experience. Also, nothing is more pleasing then to sit near your gardens with a book and munch on the good things in life; plus the smells of herbs are heaven sent. Toward the back of the book is a listing of several seed companies, as well as, several gardens that are open to the public. With the stuff they are doing to our foods these days I think more and more people will be putting in gardens in their front and back yards, window sills, roof tops there is no limit to where you can plant a garden big or small. Plus, think of the health benefits you gain from fresh air and exercise in what should be a stress free space. This book is both for those who live in the city or country. I do hope you enjoy this book as much as I do. It is next to my couch so when I have a cup of tea and just want to relax I can look at it over and over. Happy gardening.

Wow what a great book! Exactly what I've been searching for. And I buy a LOT of books on gardening. Jennifer Bartley did a really good job on this one. I will keep this one on my night stand next to my graph paper and idea notepad, and maybe buy another to keep in the potting shed.

This books give the history of what is now a Kitchen garden and how it has evolved through time. The photography is wonderful and the plans are great. There is much information in this book. Love it!

I have been designing gardens for several years, but since I am self taught, potagers were a new concept to me. I really enjoyed the historical background the author gave, but the most valuable parts of the book for me were the photos and design drawings. I got lots of good ideas for my own potager, and for friends who have been asking me for help in designing theirs.This book will not be a complete resource for a brand new gardener. She doesn't thoroughly cover things like soil prep, maintenance, harvest, or pest control (which is why I give the book four stars instead of 5). But if you have enough knowledge to handle these issues, you'll find this book to be all you need. If you need another book to cover these issues, I'd highly recommend Anna Pavord's book on Kitchen Gardens.

One of the best plays I've ever had the honor of reading. I saw the movie version in high school and I immediately fell in love with it. The play is a lot more in depth with the characters than the film. A funny brilliant emotional story of a man trying to create a family and fall in love. Harvey Fierstein is one of the best modern playwrights of our time.

Loving to be able to revisit this classic before seeing in on stage for the first time.

I bought this book because I found a great monologue in the play, and my acting teacher wanted us to have a hard copy of the monologue we chose. I read through the whole play, and was really blown away by it all. It sends a strong message, and is one of the few things that can actually make me shed a tear. I've read this countless times, now, and it will eternally have a place in my collection.

This play is so good how can you can't put it down. The characters and situation are realistic and compelling. It is a most have for any true actor or director.

Harvey Feinstein is a national treasurer. This play holds up even after all the time since it was published. Beautifully written, easily quoted.

This is one of the most fantastic plays ever written, Harvey Fierstein is a genius. A must read/see. The first Broadway revival since the original is happening this fall for a limited run. Everyone should definitely see it.

I saw the movie fist,so I always assumrd Allen to be older than he was in the stage direction, eighteen and shamefully beautiful. I like that, gives you sort of an insight into the character. Definately one of my top three plays. Thorch Song, Inherit the Wind, ond The Ubu Plays, in that order. Makes me wish the movie had been reviwed on 'In Living Color', two snaps up, and around the world

I don't normally write reviews but I wanted to share my experience because it has been so positive. I am a 38 year old woman with celiac disease and Hashimoto's. I live a very active lifestyle and eat pretty healthy but I cannot lose weight no matter how hard I try. I started having pain in the gallbladder area and thought that maybe I needed to research and find an alternative means to deal with it. I found the flush and researched the heck out of it. After reading this book I felt very comfortable going forward with the flush and decided that no matter what it would be beneficial to my health. I completed my first flush last night. I quit eating at noon and had my first Epsom salt drink at 6. Surprisingly is wasn't all that bad. Within minutes of drinking the grapefruit/oil drink I began to feel euphoric. I felt that way for the next 20 or so minutes until I fell asleep...so far not so bad. I woke up at 2:30am slightly nauseous and unable to get comfortable and fall back asleep. It took me until 5am to finally sleep again. The next couple of Epsom Salt drinks were terrible but I gulped them down in under a minute. This was the worst part of the whole flush for me but just get it over with and reap the rewards. After the second Epsom salt drink I began to pass hundreds of gallstones. They were pretty small and mostly green, some were lighter but there were tons of them!!! I continued to pass them all morning and at one point the entire water top in the toilet was 3/4 full of them. By 10am I had passed most of them but I am still getting some green pebbles and it is 11am. I couldn't believe the amazing results I had. I recommend this cleanse for anyone that is interested. Read this book and get informed, it really wasn't that bad and it was so worth it for the amount of gallstones that I was able to remove. I will keep updating my progress because I think this could really be helpful to others out there.

In February 2013 I was admitted to the hospital with extreme gastric pain. I was put on a morphine drip, had elevated liver enzymes in my blood work, had an ultrasound scan of my abdomen, and I was diagnosed with gallstones. The doctor viewed my scan results, and said my gallbladder was about 3/4 full of gallstones, and was infected. She put me on antibiotics, recommended a ZERO fat diet, and referred me to a surgeon to remove my gallbladder ASAP. She told me the gallbladder is not a necessary organ, I don't need it to survive.I did my own research on the subject. In my research, I discovered that YES. You DO need your gallbladder. Since I had no health insurance, and no $15,000 - $20,000 lying around to pay for surgery, I found Andreas Moritz's book, and opted to at least try it. If it didn't work, I would only be out the $10 or so I paid for it. But I should at least give it a try.This book is easy to follow, it makes a LOT of sense, and IT WORKS.My first flush, I got out HUNDREDS of stones. Each flush thereafter, I got out about as many. I have been doing one flush per month, and finished my 8th flush this past weekend. I have NOT HAD ONE ATTACK since I started this regimen. I have noticed the following improvements in my health:Better digestion. No gallbladder attacks! No more ER visits!!!My vision improved, I no longer need my glasses AT ALL. Crazy.My acne completely cleared up. My skin GLOWS now. It NEVER glowed before.Hormonal balance. (I was always on the verge of melting down every month)Incredible energy.Lower back pain, GONE.Very few mood swings.Sleep better.Increased immune system (I have not caught ONE cold or flu since I've been doing these flushes)The whole experience has taught me something I think everyone on the planet should know.The healthcare industry and doctors are not looking out for you. They are out to MAKE MONEY. Your local hospital, and surgeons do not make money off of selling you Epsom salts, grapefruits, and olive oil. Homeopathic remedies are not profitable for them, so they will not recommend these alternative treatments, no matter how successful they are.This flush is easy. Yes, the Epsom salts taste bitter. I put lemon juice & honey in mine, and throw it back. BETTER THAN MAJOR SURGERY. Yes fasting sucks. Again, it's BETTER THAN HAVING SURGERY. Pooping for an entire day is not how I would prefer to spend a Sunday, but once again, it's BETTER THAN REMOVING AN ORGAN YOUR BODY NEEDS, AND CAN REPAIR WITH THE HELP OF THIS FLUSH!!!This experience has changed my whole entire view on this countries healthcare approach, and it has changed my lifestyle. I now view my body with respect, and I treat it accordingly. I no longer even need a doctor, as my health is better now that it was in my 20's.I gave up eating meat altogether. I am vegan on most days. I'm not perfect. I still have the occasional slice of cheesy pizza, or mac-n-cheese, or cake & ice cream. But the majority of the time, I am very careful about what food I fuel my body with. I have also done a lot of research, and feel that eating organic, and growing my own vegetables is the best idea. I avoid anything grown with pesticides, or vegetables that have been genetically modified by shady corporations. I have never felt better in my entire life, and look forward to the day I go back to the radiologist, and get a scan of my gallbladder, so I can wave it in that ER doctor's face, and ask her if she still thinks I should have surgery?!?!?!If you are having ANY digestive issues, BUY THIS BOOK. My husband and I just finished the liver flush. He said he had over a hundred stones flushed out (his were light brown and greasy looking). I had several hundred come out and mine were bright green and looked like frozen peas.The instructions were easy to follow, but it did require some prep work for the 6 days leading up to the cleanse and everything has to be room temperature or warmer. We bought a 6 pack of 1L bottles of tart cherry juice from our local organic grocery store, and already had Epsom salt and good quality olive oil, so cost was minimal.We purchased enema bags for about $30 each from Amazon as it would have cost us about $500 together for colon hydrotherapy. So it's very affordable to do on a budget.On the day of the cleanse, you will have to be near a bathroom at all times, but not a huge inconvenience if you plan it for a day off. From personal experience, advise users to get a soothing spray with witch hazel or Tucks pads as you may be a bit sore in the back passage.It's definitely no worse than a colonoscopy prep and you get to see stones being eliminated from your body!Finally, my husband lost about 10 pounds and feels great. I've lost about 5 (only weighed 110 to start) and feel pretty good, but I just finished this AM, so am still a bit tired from the day. I did notice that my eczema flares have calmed down significantly since 2 days ago.We will definitely be doing this again!
