Careful here. If you've already bought Vol One of this Boston Globe Sunday Crossword Omnibus like I did, you'll find yourself doing some of the same crosswords you completed in Vol One. After the first five pages of Vol Two, there have been two repeats already. I hope that's not the case for the rest of the compilation. This calls for much better editing but since the edition came out in 2003, the editors probably don't much care about that anymore.Update: After doing 20 pages of the Volume, the only repeats apparently were in the first 5 pages as stated above, so upping my review from the original two stars to three stars now. Agree with other reviewers that due to print quality, some of the clues that have an i letter look like an l which can be confusing, especially if the clue word has an "il" combination.
I do a lot of crossword puzzles, especially from the Washington Post. It’s great to find another publisher/paper that has the same kind of moderately difficult while slightly humorous puzzles. I highly recommend the Boston Globe puzzles for anyone who enjoys challenging crossword puzzles that don’t require a lot arcane knowledge or constantly digging through a dictionary!
I love the Boston Globe crossword puzzles....and in the Sunday books there are 200 puzzles for you to get lost in. I make it a habit to do one a day, its stimulates the brain....the price is right for this many contemporary puzzles that keep you interested.
I didn't examine this very well before buying. My other Boston Globe CPBs were spiral bound and this one isn't. It's very cumbersome. The puzzles are hard but once you have the theme some are fun to do.
I like that there are two entirely different styles - HH & the husband/wife team. one on the RHS and one on the LHS. I find that I can go only so far at a given sitting and then when I return I am able to add more answers based on clever clues. Great senses of humor by the authors.I rarely have to use the answers so this must be right at my level
I love the Boston Globe Sunday crosswords, so naturally I had to have the omnibus!
these puzzles are the best, witty, funny and clever. they contain much more than crossword puzzle words ... they have jokes, puns to make you groan, challenging clues. simply the best made. buy them buy them buy them.
I bought this as a gift and the person tells me it is a great book - very challenging, yet not frustrating.
